James is a Chartered Environmentalist, and Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment, with over fifteen years’ environmental sustainability experience. This experience has ranged from working at Newcastle City Council implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 & EMAS), helping contribute to Newcastle being awarded UK’s Greenest City two years running by Forum for the Future, to establishing sector leading waste management practices and sustainability strategies at Newcastle Hospitals leading to them becoming the first healthcare organisation in the world to publicly declare a climate emergency, and commit to fast-tracking their decarbonisation efforts, in June 2019.
